Space Physics is interested in the natural plasma environments that are close enough to the Earth to be studied by in situ measurements made by instruments onboard spacecraft. Today these measurements cover most of the heliosphere including the Sun, its extension the solar wind; all planetary bodies with the plasma environments, including the Earth; and cosmic rays.
