This course has been designed to introduce the learners to nearly all of the fundamental concepts of genetics and evolution. The course will focus on the basic principles of classical (Mendelian) genetics and modern discoveries of Biotechnology and their applications in today's world.  The primary aim of this course is to provide the student with a good understanding of the field of genetics and to show the relationship between genetics and evolution. The course examines the maintenance of genetic variability, the role of chance in evolution, the origins of species and theories of evolution. In addition to providing an overview of evolutionary analysis, the course will also examine current questions in evolution and the application of evolutionary theory in other fields of biology.
