The course unit introduces students to the core biological functions of organisms
that principally take place at cellular and tissue level. Such functions include
metabolic processes; movement of materials into and out of cells; growth and
development; cell division and multiplication; and reproduction processes. The
course also covers Mendelian genetics and molecular basis of inheritance, as well
as an exploration of origin of live and evolutionary trends.
