This course is intended to provide a foundation upon which the teacher trainees will gain understanding of the major elements of any formal curriculum. The course will examine the basic concepts of curriculum, dimensions of curriculum, elements of curriculum and determinants of curriculum and their implications towards the teaching and learning in secondary education. The course will also equip the teacher trainees with the knowledge, skills, competencies, and expertise in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Additionally, the course will prepare the teacher trainees to be in position to analyse, and adapt best practices for curriculum change and innovation; with special reference to current local and global trends.
