Brief Description

This course is designed to introduce teacher trainees to economic theory and practice as it pertains to educational systems. The course relates general economic principles and theories to the context of education. This course is also designed to stimulate understanding of issues involved in planning the financing of education and managing of financial resources.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, the learner should be able to:

(i) describe the major issues and problems relevant to the relationship between education and

economic growth.

(ii) explain the economic nature of education and the economic factors that affect educational

institutions.

(iii) demonstrate the approaches to educational planning.

By the end of the course, the graduate can:
